Darrell has worked with some of Australia’s and the world’s largest data-driven organisations, and before starting Empirics in 2004, was Global CRM Manager at the world’s largest direct marketing company, driving the data analytics and DM strategy for over 50 million customers in 25 countries. His vision is for Empirics to be regarded as one of the world’s most highly respected and client-focused data, analytics and data science companies. Darrell is a fair weather cyclist and a starry eyed St.Kilda supporter, who believes that the Saints’ long-awaited premiership is just around the corner. And that Santa is real.

Bill Kelso

Director and Head of Client Services


Bill is a co-founder of Empirics bringing more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience in automotive, chemicals and healthcare to data driven decision making and marketing. Bill provides a strong focus on delivering high quality, client centric outcomes across the business. On weekends Bill can be found under the hot sun on his cattle farm, which explains why he has the hands of a 3,000 year old mummy.

Karlia Zammit

Karlia has more than 12 years’ experience, primarily in the financial services industry within operations management, product and account management roles. She is a key part of our Client Services team and is focused on partnering with our clients to deliver their strategic initiatives. In her spare time, Karlia is a passionate tap dancer with a dream to visit New York and star in “Singin’ in the Rain”, but no-one has the heart to tell her she’s 80 years too late.

Martin Harris

Martin has over 20 years’ experience in leading teams in strategy, sales, project management, marketing and client account management across the telecommunications, finance, energy and environmental sectors. Martin is focused on delivering the Empirics Strategic Plan and international and domestic business development via our Sales Team. When he’s not out enjoying a motorbike ride, Martin “delights” his family and highly appreciative neighbourhood by playing his new drum kit.

Tim is an accomplished data analytics professional with over 15 years’ experience across a variety of portfolios. Tim has been leading the data and analytics function at Empirics for the past 2 years and has extensive background in Business Intelligence. If he isn't walking his beloved corgi Monty, you'll find him out and about sampling the latest craft beers. Monty has been known to enjoy a tipple himself.

Matthew Quayle

Matt brings a wealth of experience from the financial services and fund management industries, together with a background in finance and computer science and project and process automation to drive and develop Empirics products and Technologies. In addition to regularly travelling to China, Matt has an electric guitar, and like Martin, he’s sure his neighbours can’t wait to hear the next riff.

Shan has over 20 years’ experience in the data industry, with a background in computing, accounting and predictive modelling. Shan leads support of the operational management of our systems and is annoyingly good at footy tipping.

Ashley Crouch

Lead Data Scientist


Ash spent over 12 years working with scientific research organisations like NASA, the National Science Foundation and the Canadian Space Agency. Ash now leads the Empirics Data Science team and applies his skills in predictive modelling and machine learning to solve complex business problems. Unfortunately, Ash's special sense of humour cannot be distilled into one sentence. You’ve seen the I.T. Crowd, right?

As the Head of Data Architecture, Ashley engages in the endless pursuit of achieving the utmost efficiency out of every process in the journey of creating a single customer view from disparate data sources. Working with data for over 15 years across a number of industries, Ashley is the go to guy for anything data process related. Ashley is also a mad Basketball fanatic, holding court in his local over 30's competition where his recall of his own performance may differ somewhat from reality.

With over 10 years in Sales and account management in the Telecommunications, Logistics and Information management industries, Tom brings a wealth of experience in ensuring the best solutions are designed for all our new clients. Winner of Empirics’ coveted “Best Beard on a Non-Hipster” award, on summer weekends Tom can be found surfing his favourite break, while winter sees him moulding future AFL stars in his role as a TAC Cup coach.

Laura specialises in risk mitigation and process improvement strategies necessary to support our Empirics customers across data integration, analytics and data science. With an extensive background in database development and risk management, Laura ensures Empirics continues to achieve our ISO27001 certification. Laura hails from the USA and is into dystopian novels, weightlifting and being a new mum!
